Maybe you’re in a new life stage, are bored, stuck at home, want to be location independent or are looking for side hustle ideas to make a little extra cash in addition to your job?
What would you do with extra money each week?
Pay bills quicker? Eat better? Save for a vacation, car or house deposit? Live a little more?
Luckily, it’s never been easier to make money from home!
And there are several ways to do it that are creative, legitimate and doable by anyone with a little will to succeed.
Check out these ideas:
1. Become a virtual assistant
If you can copy and paste data, then you can easily become a virtual assistant. While some of the tasks involved may be more complicated than copying and pasting, most tasks wont need much skill or experience, yet can earn you a healthy amount if you find the right client.
There are dedicated sites online, such as Upwork and Fiverr, where you can bid for virtual assistant jobs. You can also find work on social media if you keep your eyes open.
2. Sell items online
Take a look for things around your home that you know longer want and sell them on eBay, Craigslist or Facebook Marketplace.
Or you could even buy from other sellers cheaply before re-listing the items for a profit for yourself. Remember to make item descriptions clear and honest and to include the best product photos you can.
3. Sell services on Fiverr
If you have any skill, such as writing, design, accounting or many others, you can offer your services to others on Fiverr or one of the many other marketplaces online.
Work may be slow when you first start selling on these sites, but once you make sales and your reputation grows, you can start making more money.
4. Start a blog
Do you have a particular passion or subject you know a lot about? If you do, consider writing a blog or creating a niche website that focusses on the one topic in detail.
Whatever the topic, be it dogs or fashion, if you can write passionately about the subject, your audience is likely to grow.
Then you’ll be able to earn money from product commissions, recommendations or from accepting advertising, like Google Ads, on your website.
5. Social media management
Nowadays, most people and businesses have a social media presence. To reach a target audience, companies need to keep posting content to their social media accounts.
This is where you could come in – by offering your social media management services. You can charge to help people grow their channels.
6. Affiliate marketing
This involves creating content to promote various product offers and services. There are thousands of niches to choose from and plenty of money can be made from selling in-demand products.
You receive a commission from any product bought through your affiliate link. You can promote these products on your blog or social media accounts. You can find products to promote from marketplaces like ClickBank, Amazon, or JVZoo.
There are many other websites that offer affiliate programmes for their products. Google some then choose those that are relevant to your content and that you’re happy to stand behind and then promote away! It really helps to have tried the products out.
7. Make and sell items or services
Are you good at woodturning? Scrapbooking? PowerPoint? Jewellery making? Could you make products and sell them on Facebook, through a website, school community or at weekend markets?
Got a skill that others need like hairdressing? Organizing? Cleaning? You could get paid for doing these things for others who are time poor or want to outsource the activity. Someone I know cleans holiday homes in her village when holiday makers come and go. I make earrings and pendants and could sell these.
What could you make or do?
8. Create online courses or digital resources
This can be a great way to make money at home.
Simply make resources or teach others how to do any skill that you have or know.
It can be anything that you know more about than the average person. Even if you don’t have such a skill yet, the internet has lessons to cover virtually all topics so you can learn something new then market your new knowledge.
There are many ways to do this.
– You can create a digital product you could sell, like an ebook.
– You could create a YouTube channel where you teach your skills to others. You may not make much money to start, but if you stick with it, creating new videos on a regular basis, then you could grow a following and create a passive income stream that could last for years.
– You could create courses to upload to marketplaces like Udemy, Teachable, Kajabi and more. You make the money by listing your product then selling access to it. You usually pay a portion of each sale to the course host site.
– You could make resources that others want and sell them online. Digital resources require one off input but can be sold several times over, making them good return on investment options. One option here is to make and sell teaching resources on TpT.
Making money at home is certainly possible, and for some of these ideas you need very little skill or expertise, making them suitable for just about anyone who has the will to earn money from home.
